I am lucky to know lots of really good guys. Common threads that define them include generosity, a variety of interests, curiosity, and a desire to make the world better.
The dream is to get 15 or so guys like this together, to learn from one another, have a bunch of fun, and envision what might be done to change our worlds (and hence, THE world) for the better.
The hope is that putting great minds and hearts together will lead to new insights and ideas.
The ask is that we spend one morning in conversation, to brainstorm ways to better support the mental health and wellness of young adults.
The idea of Man Camp started two years ago, but Covid took a big bite out of the energy. The name is meant to be cheeky way of claiming that thoughtful, like-minded, progressive guys can get together to have fun, play, learn, eat and drink.
After creating the logo, I realized that "MC" could also stand for Make Change - whether in ourselves or the world around us. This weekend is about giving you a chance to learn from others, share your insights, and take a moment to breathe.
And if you like great golf, cycling, or time in the mountains, this is the weekend for you.
With questions, or to sign up, contact Jim Brommers Bergquist: sendtojbb@gmail.com or call 781.296.6240
You will then be sent a little Man Camp swag, and the two books for the weekend.
Part of learning happens organically, when we're out doing other things.
The weekend has a great lineup of presenters, who bring a deep knowledge of subject matter while being grounded and accessible.
We hope to explore topics and ideas that will illicit conversation as we ride bikes, eat, play golf, etc.
Note: This is not a religious event

We want everyone to be totally comfortable and relaxed, and it's okay if this weekend is not a good fit for you.

Other Options
You can essentially choose your own adventure during the day, and with Bend nearby, there's much to do and explore.
I am Jim Brommers Bergquist, and I've spent much of my life running retreats, youth programs, and small groups. I'm also a lover of sports, movies, friendship, real conversations, big ideas, collaboration, and my family.
Things were pretty easy and great for the first 45 years of my life - until they weren't... The dark cloud of depression walloped me hard - like "catching the follow through of a Barry Bonds warm up swing" hard - and I've spent the last few years figuring out ways to get back to balance. My dream is to use what I've gone through to make the world a little more manageable for others, specifically by creating programs for young adults and men in my general station in life.
Out of this experience have come a few interests and understandings::
The primary objective of BeWell Partners is to support the emotional fitness of youth and young adults. The hope is to do this through education, mentoring, community building, conversation, peer leadership and training, service opportunities, camps, fun, and creative expression.
Every athlete knows that gains take time. Consistency, teamwork, coaching, and perseverance leads to improvements and PRs, even if the journey is longer than desired. The dream of Ven U is to provide resources that empower college athletes to use this understanding of incremental growth in developing mental health and wellness skills.
The hope it to keep this simple. Send an email to Jim, or give a call or text with any questions: 781.296.6240.
We will stay in rental houses on site, and provide private rooms. Our morning and evening gatherings will occur one of the homes, and dinners will vary in location.
